Shopping in Madrid

Overview

Shopping Options

Madrid is a very interesting city for shopping. International brands mix with local shops opened until very late (normally from 10 am to 10 pm), where you can find almost everything: clothing, shoes, food, wines, and souvenirs... from very different styles, at very different prices.
Some of the most popular shopping areas in Madrid are:

- SALAMANCA DISTRICT. This is one of the most upscale neighborhoods of the city centers, where you can find cool restaurants, fashion bars and expensive shops. The main avenues are Calle Serrano and Calle Velázquez, but it is recommended that you also explore the small streets of the area, as you can find some surprises in them. Calle Claudio Coello and Calle Lagasca are filled with a wide variety of shops.

Calle Serrano is a very long avenue that almost crosses the central part of the city north to south. However, the good part for shopping on the street is the part that goes from its beginning at Plaza de la Independencia (where the Puerta de Alcalá is) to calle Juan Bravo.

The most expensive street in the Barrio Salamanca is Calle de Jose Ortega y Gasset. This is where one will find many designer shops such as Valentino and Jimmy Choo. This is the Rodeo Drive of Madrid.

- GRAN VÍA. One of Madrid's main avenues, some tourists compare it with Times Square, probably not because of the architecture (very different styles), but due to the fact that many theatres and cinemas are there. Also, you can find shops such as Zara, H&M, El Corte Inglés, Cortefiel, Stradivarius, FNAC... and very renowned (and expensive) jewelry shops.
- CHUECA is the most fashionable district of the city. Close to Gran Vía, many people go there to buy casual clothing and to have dinner in an Asian restaurant, for example. Some sport brands, like Adidas or Foot Locker, have shops there.  The main and most interesting street of the area is Calle Fuencarral.

- SHOPPING MALLS, some of the most popular are:

a) Príncipe Pío. It is not the biggest, but it is in the city centre, located in a former train station of the XIX century. It has shops, restaurants and cinemas.
b) Palacio de Hielo. A little bit farther, but still in the city, its main attraction is an ice skating ring opened during all the year
c) Madrid Xanadú. 23 km (10 miles) south of the city, this is the biggest, most comprehensive and most impressive shopping mall of Madrid, with lots of things to do: it has lots of shops, cinemas, restaurants, a bowling alley, karts, ski and snowboard in a false mountain with snow artificially maintained at -2ºC all the year, hot air balloon flights, etc.
d) PLAZA NORTE 2. A huge mall only for shopping (with some cinemas and cafés) north of
Madrid, not too far away from the airport of Madrid Barajas

- OUTLETS. There are two famous outlets north-west of Madrid, very close one to the other. Las Rozas Village is built imitating a small and ancient town, with many of the most famous brands at great discounts: Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Levi's, Loewe, Adolfo Domínguez, Lottusse, TAG Heuer, Versace, Victorio&Lucchino, Tommy Hilfiger, Dockers, Roberto Verino, Diesel, Pepe Jeans.

The other one is called Factory and it is more informal, for casual clothing and sports, with Nike, Lee, Caramelo, Barrats, Pepe Jeans, Samsonite or Sun Planet.

It is the responsibility of the lead name to provide current copies of all passports for the party and to notify us if any member of the party has a passport (or UAE residence visa if applicable) due to expire with  6 months of the arrival back in the UAE post-travel. You must check visa and health requirements prior to confirming your travel arrangements, including transit visas if your flight in not direct. Neither we nor our suppliers accept any responsibility for either denied boarding or denied entry to a country for any reason, not limited to non-compliance of passport, visa and health requirements.

All services are subject to availability at the time of booking, which may differ from the time of quotation. Prices are also subject to change and cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received and the booking confirmed. For air travel, this means tickets issued. For hotel bookings, this means accommodation vouchers issued. It is important that all vouchers are read carefully for additional supplier information.

PRICING

We offer you the flexibility to create your own holiday from the range of accommodation, airlines and other services available. Because of this wide choice, it is not possible to list every price on every date. A ‘from’ price is indicative of the lowest price available for the hotel or itinerary featured but this may vary depending on a number of factors such as your date of travel, number of people sharing a room, choice of accommodation and airline availability.

The rates at some hotels may vary depending on your residency and therefore it is important that you confirm the residency and nationality of everyone travelling at the time of quotation.

All prices are subject to availability and final confirmation from the supplier. Certain airlines permit us as their agent to hold reservations for a certain amount of time without tickets being issued. It is important to note that in these instances, the fares are only guaranteed until 2359 that day and we are not liable in the event of an increase. We, therefore, recommend that tickets are issued on the same day as the reservation. Some airports charge a departure tax, which is payable locally. These charges may not be claimed back from us.

Additional information on our supplier's pricing policy can be found in their booking conditions.

AMENDMENTS & CANCELLATIONS

All flight timings are provisional and subject to change. However you will be advised in advance of any major change as per your supplier's booking conditions. Only in extreme cases will an airline offer a full refund or date change should you not accept the change. On occasions your supplier may find it necessary to alter your any aspect of your holiday. Their policy regarding alterations is set out in their booking conditions.

Should you find it necessary to cancel or amend your holiday, please contact us without delay. Cancellations and amendments require written confirmation by the lead name in the party. Prior to making any changes, please verify any charges bearing in mind that these generally increase the closer you get to departure. In most cases, late cancellation will result in 100% charges.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend Travel Insurance as protection against financial costs or losses in connection with medical treatment and travel inconvenience i.e. cancellation or curtailment and delay, damage or loss of baggage/personal effects.
