Itinerary

Day 1: Explore Lima

The day begins with one of the many tours in Lima, the historic city centre of the famous ‘City of the Kings’ and UNESCO World Heritage site.

Take a walk to the Main Square and be awed by the incredible landmarks that have been built around it.

You will then be guided to the Santo Domingo Convent, a 16th-century architectural masterpiece where the city’s patron saints, Rose of Lima and Martin de Porres' earthly remains lie. Thereafter you will head to the city’s modern sectors, the exclusive district of San Isidro, Lima’s new financial centre and Miraflores, with a stop at the 'Parque del Amor' and its incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. Finally, you will visit the Larco Museum. The specially selected private collection shows more than 3000 years of Pre-Columbian history. You will end the day with a romantic dinner.

Day 2: Explore Cusco - Urubamba Valley - Lake Huaypo

You will depart for Cusco by air. Once you have landed, you will venture into the warm Urubamba Valley, also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Through the valley runs the Vilcanota or Urubamba River. The richness of the valley soil gave life to the towns that still thrive on its banks. You will now have a fun-filled water adventure kayaking on Lake Huaypo, a lovely body of crystalline water, located at an elevation of 3,657 meters. Enjoy a picnic on the lakeshore, a very special setting with an amazing picturesque view.

Day 3: Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas

You are one step closer to the highlight of this trip, a Machu Picchu tour, but to reach the Lost City, you have to venture into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is full of surprises. There is the Balcón del Inca, near the town of Chinchero, an absolutely beautiful spot with jaw-dropping panoramas. You can also visit the cultural centre run by the locals. They will take you through the process of dyeing wool with natural colors used in their brightly colored clothing.

The next stop is the Ollantaytambo archeological complex, a masterpiece of Incan monumental architecture. Ollantaytambo was an impregnable fort and ceremonial site. Its most eye-catching aspect is the terraced hillsides. A battle was fought here between Spanish and Incan armies, one of the few that the Conquistadors actually lost.  You then head to the town of Ollantaytambo, known as a ‘living Inca city’ and the finest surviving example of Incan city planning. It was founded by the Incas in the 13th century and features their famed stamp of excellent stonework.

The day ends with a relaxing luxury spa with treatment inspired by Andean ingredients that have been cultivated for thousands of years.

Day 4: Explore Machu Picchu, the sacred city

This amazing Inca citadel is one of the world’s most important energy centres. Experience a train journey going through some of the most outstanding countryside from Cusco to the town of Aguas Calientes, the staging ground for the ascent to the ruins. You will then board the bus to the twisting mountain road to the gate of the archeological site. Our professional tour guide will explain the history that envelopes this mysterious and enchanting place. You will have some free time to explore, relax or you can just choose to meditate. You will enjoy the lunch served in Aguas Calientes, also called Machu Picchu town. In the afternoon, you will then head to your hotel.

Day 5: Explore Cusco

It’s time for the Cusco city tour. Here we will discover the reasons why this city is declared a World Heritage Site. It starts in the colonial district, with a stop at the Coricancha, the Incan Temple of the Sun, to admire the incredible stone workmanship of the Incas. You can then walk around the Main Square where you can admire the Cathedral, with its outstanding façade, as well as two other impressive churches, la Compañia de Jesus and la Merced. Your day ends with some pottery classes, where an expert artisan will guide you as you create your very own Andean ceramic pieces that you can take home.

Day 6: Explore the district of Barranco

You will be escorted to the airport at the scheduled time for your return flight to Lima. On arrival, you will be guided to the district of Barranco. It is well-known for being the most bohemian and culturally oriented, with museums, designer boutiques, handicraft fairs and live music. Start off with a stroll on the famous 'Puente de Los Suspiros' (Bridge of Sighs). Next on the list is the Pedro de Osma Museum, where you will see the finest collection of Colonial paintings, furniture and textiles. The tour continues with a stop at the museum of renowned photographer Mario Testino. It is the only cultural institution in the world with permanent exhibits of this famous Peruvian artist.

Day 7: Depart from Lima

Check out of the hotel and depart for the airport to catch your flight back home.
