Overview

Here’s the thing about Switzerland – it is the perfect way to detox from the world. It is the proud antithesis of the fast-paced, maddening cities saturated with glass-steel structures.

So, when you are driving through the winding roads of the Swiss countryside, gazing in wonder at the majestic snow-capped peaks and the pristine lush green hills, you feel purified in your body, mind and soul. That is the effect Switzerland has on you and it lasts a lifetime.

Whether it is the little hamlets or the big cities, Switzerland seamlessly blends natural beauty, diverse architectural styles, a heterogeneous culture and cuisine, to create a lifestyle that is as unique as its landscapes.

While Geneva, Zurich, Bern and the likes are bustling hubs of commerce, science and technology, in the Swiss countryside, world-renowned Swiss cows produce countless varieties of cheese and chocolates that take you on a culinary adventure.

The mountains, lakes and rivers call you for your next adventure, the Swiss culture welcomes you into a warm embrace and the cuisine is a window into the world of Swiss finesse. Whatever you need to detox from the world, Switzerland has it all.

Day 02: Explore Mt. Titlis | Lucerne

We start the day with a hearty breakfast.

Today, we head right to the top of Switzerland, the iconic Mt.Titlis. Standing tall at 3032 metres, the journey to the top is as fascinating as the majestic mountain itself. As you ride in two cable cars, the landscape transforms from lush green meadows to snow-clad mountains. In the last leg of the ascent, you can experience the scenic beauty in the world’s first rotating cable car, ‘Titlis Rotoair.’

When you get to the top, you can enjoy the exhilarating Cliff Walk.

We then head to the Lucerne, located in the heart of Switzerland by Lake Lucerne. We take a tour around this spectacular city as we learn about its history, gaze at the spectacular medieval architecture, beautiful bridges and relaxed promenades. We stop by the famous Lion Monument, ‘Lowendenkmal’, that commemorates the spirit of the Swiss soldiers during the French revolution.

You can spend the evening at leisure, shopping for Swiss specialties like chocolates, Swiss watches, Swiss army knives or souvenirs.

Day 03: Explore Rhine Fall | Bern| Grindelwald

Today, post a scrumptious breakfast, we drive to the historic town of Schaffhausen. Needless to say, the drive will be a marvelous one thanks to the breathtaking landscape.

Our first stop is the awe-inspiring Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. Just the sound of the water gushing is both powerful and soothing at the same time.

Our next stop is Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Bern is constantly thriving with activity across several fields. It’s the political epicentre of the country, the home to headquarters of several international organisations and the centre for scientific research. If that’s not enough, the entire city is UNESCO World Heritage site! On the city tour, we explore the iconic Zytglogge (Clock Tower) that dates back to the 13th century, the Parliament Building and the captivating Gothic Fountains.

We then head to Aare Gorge, formed due to the erosion of limestone rocks between Meiringen and Innertkirchen.

Next on the list is Grindelwald, an alpine playground with the largest ski resort in this region. This little hamlet with its picturesque backdrop and serene beauty makes for a perfect excursion.

Dinner and overnight stay at Eigerblick in Grindelwald.

Day 04: Day at leisure | Explore Jungfraujoch & Interlaken

Post breakfast, you have the day at leisure.

Alternatively, you can opt for an excursion to Jungfraujoch*. There is no better feeling than that of being on top of the world and that too, quite literally. Jungfraujoch, the highest point in Switzerland offers an incredible panorama. The entire journey from Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch is overwhelming. Once you arrive in Jungfrau, you can gaze at the mountains from the Sphinx terrace. The Jungfrau peak and Aletsch glacier are timeless beauties that will take your breath away.

An interesting site is the Ice Palace, which displays an awesome collection of sculptures made out of ice.

You can even send a postcard to your friends and relatives from Europe’s highest altitude post office with its own special postmark.

After an exciting excursion, we head back to Grindelwald.

Dinner and overnight stay at Eigerblick in Grindelwald.

Day 05: Explore Geneva| Montreux |Vevey

We start the day with a hearty breakfast.

Today, we drive to Geneva, a vibrant city located at the southern tip of Lake Geneva. As this thriving cosmopolitan city goes about its busy life, in the far distance stands Mont Blanc, gently peering as the city evolves.

Geneva has quite the international stature as it is the epicentre of several global organisations. We kick start the Geneva city tour with a visit to the Headquarters of the United Nations and the Red Cross.

Next on the list is the vibrant English Gardens followed by a visit to the Floral clock. We then end the tour with a visit to the stunning Jet d’Eau, a lakeside fountain where you can watch the water shoot up and create an amazing sight.

We then drive to Montreux. Overlooking the pristine Lake Geneva and nestled in the steep hills, the traditional resort town of Montreux is a picture-perfect getaway with spectacular buildings and relaxed promenades. If you are here in July, you can even catch the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Our next stop is the highlight of the Swiss Riviera, Vevey. Apart from its lakeside location and breathtaking view, Vevey is also the home of the legendary Charlie Chaplin.

Our last stop is Tasch, a little hamlet in the Zermatt region.

Dinner and overnight stay at Best Western Alpen Resort in Tasch.

Day 05: Explore Zermatt

Today, post a scrumptious breakfast, we explore Zermatt, an authentic Alpine village located at the foot of the Matterhorn peak. The locals have carefully preserved Zermatt’s old-world charm. So, don’t be surprised when you see electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs cruising through the village.

You can explore Zermatt on your own or take an excursion to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise*.

We take the Matterhorn Express cable railway and then take a lift built into the rock - to the highest sightseeing platform in Europe. Here, you can also go snow tubing and visit Europe’s highest ice palace.
