Itinerary

Day 01: Santiago de Compostela - Viveiro

Upon arrival in Santiago de Compostela, head to the Parador Reyes Católicos. 

We begin our journey with a tour of the city as we visit the Silversmiths and the famous Cathedral which is a mixture of Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque architecture.

Lunch will be served at the Parador. In the afternoon, the luxury coach travels to Ferrol station. On board, you will be guided to one’s suite.

Next stop is Viveiro. We enjoy a tour of this beautiful medieval town that includes a view from San Roque followed by dinner at a local restaurant. 

Overnight stay in El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo.

 

Day 02: Viveiro - Ribadeo – Luarca

We start the day with a hearty breakfast on board the train as we travel to Ribadeo.

Upon arrival in Ribadeo, we will head out for a guided tour of the town followed by a visit to Playa de Las Catedrales to see the spectacular natural formation that has been created by the effect of tide and wind on rocks, along with the wonderful views of the Rias Altas. 

We enjoy a scrumptious lunch as the train takes us through the fascinating landscape of Galicia when we head to Luarca, ‘The White Town of the Green Coast’.  Upon arrival in Luarca, we go on a guided tour of the town post which you have the evening at leisure.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 03:  Luarca - Aviles - Gijon - Oviedo – Candas

Post breakfast, on board we take the coach from Luarca to Aviles. Aviles is a town with charming streets, squares and interesting buildings. As you wander around town, you will be mesmerized by its beauty.

Our next stop is Gijon. We visit the city and its Universidad Laboral and then proceed for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will head to Oviedo, the capital of the Principality, which boasts of a unique collection of pre-Romanesque monuments. On a guided tour, we explore the sights and sounds of this fascinating city.

You have the evening at leisure followed by a delicious dinner.

Day 04:  Candas - Arriondas – Llanes

Wake up to the beautiful sight of the Spanish countryside and enjoy your breakfast with a view as your train arrives in Arriondas. 

We take the coach from Arriondas, passing through the heart of Asturias which is the National Park of the Picos de Europa. Here, will visit two glacial lakes known as the Lakes of Covadonga, the amazing Sanctuary of Covadonga, and finally back to Cangas de Onís for lunch. 

We then travel to Llanes, a wonderful fishing village on the eastern side of Asturias. Upon arrival, we head out for a guided tour of the beautiful town. You have the rest of the evening at leisure followed by a scrumptious dinner.

Day 05:  Llanes - Potes - Cabezon de la Sal

As you sip on your morning coffee over breakfast, we arrive in Unquera. From there we take the coach via the breath-taking La Hermida pass, a gorge with rugged mountains where one can spot Golden Eagles soaring around.

 At Potes, we visit the 6th-century Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, home to many prized relics making it an important pilgrimage centre. 

Post a scrumptious lunch you have the afternoon at leisure to wander around Potes which lies between four valleys.  This historical town is dominated by the Infantado Tower, with its traditional medieval architecture and bridges. 

We then travel by train to Cabezón de la Sal, where we enjoy dinner.

Day 06:  Cabezon de la Sal - Santillana del Mar – Santander

We start the day with breakfast.

First, on the list, is the Cave of Altamira, famous for its prehistoric cave paintings featuring drawings and polychrome rock paintings of wild mammals and human hands.

Next, we head to the beautiful medieval town of Santillana del Mar, with its historical buildings and cobbled streets.

Post a delicious lunch, we travel to Santander, where we explore the capital in a guided tour.  Divided in two, by the Magdalene Penisula, on one side are magnificent beaches, the imposing casing and English-looking stately homes, and on the other, the Bay of Santander, with the port, cathedral and the Paseo Pereda.

You have the rest of the evening at leisure followed by a delicious dinner.

Day 07: Santander - Bilbao - Villasana de Mena

As you enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, the train arrives in Bilbao.

We then head out for a guided tour around the city and visit the innovatively designed architectural landmark of the Guggenheim Museum.

We have lunch and spend some time at leisure before arriving in Villasana de Mena.

Following a fascinating tour of the Romanesque buildings, dinner is served in a local restaurant.

Day 08:  Villasana de Mena - San Sebastián

We start the day with a hearty breakfast as the train charges towards San Sebastián. 

Upon arrival, the coach takes us to San Sebastian, where we take a guided tour around the city.  San Sebastián is a vibrant city that nestles in a shell-shaped bay where the jaw-dropping iron sculptures of Eduardo Chillida known as ‘Comb of the Wind', cast huge bold shapes from the water's edge of the Bay of Biscay. 

With many restaurants, beautiful beaches and an interesting Old Quarter with historical buildings, San Sebastian is quite a delight.

With a heavy heart, it is now time to say goodbye to Spain and the Transcantabrico. Transfer to the airport to catch your flight home.

Terms & Conditions

  • Dress Code:   Day Wear – smart casual Evening Wear – suit and tie for men, evening dress for ladies.
  • Luggage:  Luggage is limited to 30 kilos per person for Pullman and State Compartment passengers. There is no limit for those passengers travelling in a Presidential Suite. Please keep your tickets, passports and any medication with you. Do not pack them in your through or compartment luggage.
  • Through luggage: We suggest that items not required for your journey are packed separately in sturdy baggage. At check-in this luggage will be labeled appropriately by our staff and will not normally be accessible until you reach your destination. Ideally, large and/or hard cases should be checked as through luggage.
  • Compartment luggage: This should contain clothing and items you need during your journey. When you plan your luggage, please bear in mind that storage space is limited. There is a luggage rack plus an additional storage cupboard with hangers. One or two soft sided suit carriers or similar can be comfortably accommodated in each compartment.
  • Hand luggage: Your passport, tickets, jewellery, money, camera, fragile items and any medication should not be checked in.

The following terms and conditions form the basis of your contract with Al Majid Travel & Tourism LLC.  Please read them carefully as they contain important information.  By asking us to confirm your booking, we assume that you have read these terms and conditions and agree to them. 
 
As an Agent, Al Majid Travel & Tourism LLC arranges travel experiences and transportation with a large number of suppliers in the United Arab Emirates and around the world. These suppliers provide the following list of services.
 
·         Scheduled, Low Cost and Charter Airlines
 
·         Hotels, Villas, Apartments and Guesthouses
 
·         Package Holidays
 
·         Self-drive and chauffeur-driven car hire
 
·         Airport, Port and Resort Transfers
 
·         Luxury and Standard Rail Transportation
 
·         Ocean, Fjord and River Cruises plus Shore Excursions
 
·         Individual and Group Tours
 
·         Sightseeing and Attractions (including Theme and Water Parks)
 
·         Live Shows
 
·         Travel Insurance
 
·         UAE and International Visas
 
Each of these suppliers will have their own individual terms and conditions that will be explained to you prior to the booking being made. Copies are also available upon request.
 
BOOKINGS
 
A booking will only be made if the lead name in the booking is aged 18 years or older. The lead name assumes full responsibility for ensuring that all members of the travelling party accept the supplier’s terms and conditions. This person is also responsible for ensuring that all requested information is 100% correct. Failure to do so may result in the booking being rejected by any of the suppliers with no refund on any applicable cancellation charges. The information generally required includes the residency for each individual member of the party as well as the correct spelling of names, title, sex and age as per their passports.
 
PASSPORT, VISA & HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
 
It is the responsibility of the lead name to provide current copies of all passports for the party and to notify us if any member of the party has a passport (or UAE residence visa if applicable) due to expire with  6 months of the arrival back in the UAE post-travel. You must check visa and health requirements prior to confirming your travel arrangements, including transit visas if your flight in not direct. If a booking is made and confirmed at any time prior to visas being granted, this is done at your own risk. Neither we nor our suppliers accept any responsibility for either denied boarding or denied entry to a country for any reason, not limited to non-compliance of passport, visa and health requirements.
 
We recommend that you contact your Doctor or Medical Centre for the latest inoculations and malaria medication. We strongly advise pregnant woman and young families to avoid countries where malaria is present.
 
A booking can only be made once the deposit or full payment has been received. All bookings made within 12 weeks of departure will be subject to full payment. All services are subject to availability at the time of booking, which may differ from the time of quotation. Prices are also subject to change and cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received and the booking confirmed. For air travel, this means tickets issued. For hotel bookings, this means accommodation vouchers issued. It is important that all vouchers are read carefully for additional supplier information.
 
PRICING
 
We offer you the flexibility to create your own holiday from the range of accommodation, airlines and other services available. Because of this wide choice, it is not possible to list every price on every date. A ‘from’ price is indicative of the lowest price available for the hotel or itinerary featured but this may vary depending on a number of factors such as your date of travel, number of people sharing a room, choice of accommodation and airline availability.
 
The rates at some hotels may vary depending on your residency and therefore it is important that you confirm the residency and nationality of everyone travelling at the time of quotation.
 
All prices are subject to availability and final confirmation from the supplier. Certain airlines permit us as their agent to hold reservations for a certain amount of time without tickets being issued. It is important to note that in these instances, the fares are only guaranteed until 2359 that day and we are not liable in the event of an increase. We, therefore, recommend that tickets are issued on the same day as the reservation. Some airports charge a departure tax, which is payable locally. These charges may not be claimed back from us.

AMENDMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
 
All flight timings are provisional and subject to change. However you will be advised in advance of any major change as per your supplier's booking conditions. Only in extreme cases will an airline offer a full refund or date change should you not accept the change. On occasions your supplier may find it necessary to alter your any aspect of your holiday. Their policy regarding alterations is set out in their booking conditions.
 
Should you find it necessary to cancel or amend your holiday, please contact us without delay. Cancellations and amendments require written confirmation by the lead name in the party. Prior to making any changes, please verify any charges bearing in mind that these generally increase the closer you get to departure. In most cases, late cancellation will result in 100% charges.
 
TRAVEL INSURANCE
 
We strongly recommend Travel Insurance as protection against financial costs or losses in connection with medical treatment and travel inconvenience i.e. cancellation or curtailment and delay, damage or loss of baggage/personal effects.
 
GOVERNING LAW
 
Any matters that arise between you and us are governed by the laws applicable in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is also conditional on your agreement that any dispute that arises between you and us will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Dubai, except that we also we retain the right to bring proceedings against you for breach of these terms and conditions in your country of residence or any other relevant country.

Cancellation Policy

You or any member of your party may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. Written notification from the lead passenger must be sent by email to holidays@al-majid.com. For urgent cancellations, please ALSO telephone 04 2222007 or 2212213.
 
In the event of cancellation, there will be supplier charges that you will have to pay ranging from 10% to 100%, and these will be explained to you prior to booking. We encourage you to take out travel insurance, which may cover some or all of the charges depending on the nature of the cancellation.
 
Should you fail to cancel your booking in advance you may also incur a no-show fee in addition to any other supplier imposed charges.
