A Jewel of the Orient

Overview

In the far corners of the Earth, a mere speck in the vast blue oceans, Japan is a small country packed with centuries of history and geographic wonders.

A country that is rooted in its history and culture and yet is at the forefront of technological advancement, Japan meticulously blends the ancient and modern. From the north to the south and east to west, soulful shrines and temples adorn cities as sharp glass-steel structures build the future of the country. The city streets bustle with activity and the aroma of delicious Japanese food makes you stop in your tracks. Japanese cuisine with its meats, vegetables and unique techniques of cooking is nothing like anything you have tasted before.

Beyond the cities, lush green mountains and forests are a sight to behold. In the north, the majestic Mount Fuji rises in glory and watches over Japan. National Parks and reserves are ecological hotspots and rejuvenate your spirit. The cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki serve as reminders of the unfortunate bombings in 1945. Museums and memorials tell stories of the horror that befell these cities during the war.

From an intriguing history to gorgeous sceneries to unbelievably delicious food, we have got you covered in this exciting journey to the land of the rising sun.

Then, we proceed to Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) in northern Kyoto. It is an impressive structure that overlooks a large pond and whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf.

Post lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit Kiyomizudera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. Founded in the year 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, it derives its name from the fall's pure waters.
